€9m fee reportedly agreed
Final deal edging closer
WHAT HAPPENED?
With Klopp set to depart at the end of the season after eight years at Liverpool several candidates for the job have been floated, but Slot has emerged as the frontrunner with the deal on the verge of completion. Now The Times has reported that the Reds will pay his current club a compensation fee of €9 million plus €2m in add-ons (£9.4m/$11.8m), which would make him the third most-expensive manager in the history of the Premier League.
Slot's Feyenoord team have been an impressive outfit in recent seasons; as well as winning the 2022-23 Eredivisie title, he also guided the club to the Europa Conference League final in his first season and won the KNVB Cup a week ago.
