  • Liverpool draw 1-1 at Man City
  • Haaland and Alexander-Arnold score
  • Jota and Alisson suffer injuries
  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Trent Alexander-Arnold's late goal cancelled out Erling Haaland's first-half strike to ensure the division's top two sides came away with a point apiece at the Etihad on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's men had the lion's share of the chances and possession, so the visitors may have been the happier of the two teams.

However, forward Jota came off shortly after half time and keeper Alisson picked up a knock, too.

    WHAT JURGEN KLOPP SAID

After the match, Klopp said: “The shadow on this game is obviously that Ali[sson] felt something and Diogo [Jota] felt something – something we have to assess and then we will see. That's not cool.”

Expanding further on Alisson's fitness, he added: "I hope it’s not that serious, but I don't have the answer - no clue in the moment what it is. I spoke to him and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

While these injuries are a huge blow to Liverpool, the result throws the title race wide open again. City looked like they were primed to speed away from their rivals but the draw will offer hope to the chasing pack. However, Klopp's side will be much less likely to contend for the Premier League if Alisson, in particular, is sidelined as he is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

  • WHAT NEXT?

City take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday whereas Liverpool entertain LASK on Thursday in the Europa League. It remains to be seen if Jota or Alisson will play in the latter.
