  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Leicester launched an investigation into former coach Kirk for allegedly having a relationship with one of his players. He was suspended during the search and later dismissed. The Foxes have now announced Miquel as his replacement ahead of the 2024-25 Women's Super League campaign.

    Speaking as the Leicester head coach for the first time, Miquel said: "I am very excited for this new project. Right now the WSL is one of the best leagues in the world and it’s the place to be. I am very pleased that I have the opportunity to be here. It will be amazing to manage in such a nice stadium and to have the fans supporting the women’s game. I want to get the best out of every player and help the team climb the table. We want to make our fans proud of their team.”

    Miquel caught the eye in France with Reims. The 40-year-old managed to secure a top-four spot in the Premiere Ligue while leading the scouting department for the club. She built an incredible structure across the English Channel while discovering some top talents including Melchie Dumornay, Monique Ngock and Oluwatosin Demehin.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MIQUEL AND LEICESTER?

    The new WSL campaign kicks off on the weekend of 21 September, meaning Miquel still has over two months to get to know her new role. Leicester finished 10th in 2023-24, 12 points above relegated Bristol City. The Foxes will be hoping to climb up the table as a new era dawns in the Midlands.
