Leah Williamson is back... kind of! Arsenal Women supporters unveil hilarious face-mask tribute to injured Lionesses star during WSL victory over Everton

Williamson’s return to the pitch is getting closer and Arsenal fans are desperate to see their star on the pitch once again - so much so they’ve taken it upon themselves to become the defender themselves. The England captain has been out of action since rupturing her ACL against Manchester United in April last year but Gunners boss Jonas Eidevall is optimistic she will be back soon.

The Gunners have been in mixed form this season but yesterday’s victory took them level on points with leaders Chelsea - albeit they have played a game more than the Blues. Arsenal will be confident that Williamson’s reintroduction to the side alongside fellow ACL injury sufferers Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead will help propel them to the league title. The Gunners are still without Laura Wienroither and Teyah Goldie through the crippling injury.

Arsenal have not won the WSL since 2019, with Chelsea securing the title in each of the four years since. However, with the Blues' talisman Sam Kerr out with the same injury Williamson is returning from, the Gunners will be hoping to capitalise on their rivals' misfortune and wrestle back the trophy.

Arsenal continue their defence of the Conti Cup against Reading on Wednesday - a game that comes too soon for Williamson. The Lionesses captain, however, will be hoping to face Manchester United at a potentially sold-out Emirates Stadium in February - the very fixture in which she was put out of action.
