Lauren James is always chilled! Erin Cuthbert explains Chelsea team-mate's 'general aura' after Lionesses star nets casual Man Utd hat trick

James gave a startlingly-relaxed post-match interview after netting a stunning hat trick in her side's victory over Manchester United on Sunday. Now, team-mate Cuthbert has given an insight into whether the England star is always that composed around the Chelsea camp.

Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday, the Scot said: "That’s her general aura. She acts the same every day, but we’ve got a couple of players like that in the dressing room. I’ve learned since being here is everyone acts very differently as they are as a person and a character, but one thing we can never question, no matter what their character is, is their commitment to the team. Lauren showed exactly what she can do on Sunday."

James is enjoying a superb season, notching her second Stamford Bridge hat trick of the campaign against United last weekend. Her side have needed her to step up too, following the news that talismanic striker Sam Kerr will be out for the season due to an ACL injury. Mia Fishel started in Kerr's stead on Sunday, though James operated as a No.9 when the USWNT forward was substituted in the second half.

James' seasonal tally of seven goals at Stamford Bridge is more than any other men's or women's Chelsea player has managed this season. Raheem Sterling is her closest rival, having found the net five times at the club's long-time home during the 2023-24 campaign.

James will be looking to continue her hot streak when Real Madrid travel to west London in the Women's Champions League on Wednesday night. She could soon be joined at Chelsea by some attacking reinforcements, with the Blues reportedly close to completing the signing of Colombian World Cup star Mayra Ramirez from Levante.
