Lamine Yamal's Christmas in Dubai! Barcelona send teenage sensation to UAE for special injury treatment in bid to recover him for Spanish Super Cup

The winger went off injured in his side's win against Leganes earlier this month and has been ruled out for several weeks with an ankle injury. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spain star has been sent to the United Arab Emirates, alongside a cousin and a friend, to relax and work out in the gym. Over the last week, Yamal has been undergoing a treatment with platelet-rich plasma in the hope it allows him to return earlier.

The Catalan side hope to have Yamal, who has six goals and 11 assists to his name across La Liga and the Champions League this season, back in contention for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club on January 8. He has already been ruled out of the Copa del Rey clash at Barbastro four days prior.

Barca have an open training session planned for December 29, but Yamal is not expected to participate, so he could opt to extend his stay in Dubai or be called back to continue his recovery under the eye of the club's medical staff.

Hansi Flick's side will be eager to get Yamal back in the team before too long, but they have been warned that they should make sure he has fully recovered as a specialist recently claimed that the injury may be more complicated than first thought.
