LAFC's Mateusz Bogusz reportedly set to transfer to Cruz Azul in Liga MX

LAFC attacking midfielder Mateusz Bogusz is reportedly set to transfer to Liga MX side Cruz Azul. The two teams have agreed on a fee of $9M.

Bogusz, who made his international debut with Poland in 2024, scored 15 goals and recorded seven assists during the 2024 season with the Black and Gold.

The MLS side purchased the versatile attacker for just north of $1M in 2023 and is now set to capitalize on their investment, per GiveMeSport.CLMerlo was the first to report initial talks.

Cruz Azul have already purchased ex-LAFC defender Omar Campos this January window, paying north of $4M for his services, while also adding now former San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Emi Ochoa for $2 million -- a source confirmed to GOAL.

In the summer of 2024, the Liga MX side also purchased former Atlanta United standout Giorgos Giakoumakis for $10M.

The purchase of Bogusz would be their fourth big-money signing from MLS within the past 12 months, and the second from the Black and Gold.

A transfer has yet to be finalized for the Polish attacker, but the talks are advanced, and a deal is expected to be completed soon.

Bogusz had previously played for Leeds United in England before being sent on loan to Spanish clubs UD Lugrones and UD Ibiza prior to arriving in the U.S. with LAFC.

The Black and Gold are in the midst of MLS preseason, with their first friendly of their training camp coming against FC Nordsjælland of the Danish Premier League on Jan. 28,

Bogusz, meanwhile, will remain in talks with Cruz Azul until the two sides can come to an agreement over a move.
