Kylian Mbappe set to go to court! PSG see appeal over €55m in unpaid wages to Real Madrid star rejected after filing claim a day late

Mbappe, who left Paris on a free transfer in the summer after seven seasons to join Spanish giants Real Madrid, looks set to receive the vast sum of money after PSG's request for a review of the ruling in favour of the attacker was submitted to the French Football Federation (FFF) a day late, meaning they are obliged to pay the full sum to the player, or take the case to court.

Mbappe was PSG's most crucial player in his time in the French capital, scoring 256 goals in his seven-year stint, but decided to agree a contract with Real Madrid in the hopes of winning his first Champions League title. And it seems there was more than one reason for him to leave.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, PSG will opt to take the case to court as they have no intention of paying the money.

PSG spokesperson said: "What is at issue, and which will be resolved before an appropriate court, is that the original contract was legally modified in August 2023 with regard to the 2024-2025 season. This change was fully recognised by the player as early as January 2024, until he decided to renounce all his commitments by leaving the club."

With the rejection of PSG's appeal, the matter with Mbappe looks almost certain to head to the court of law. On the pitch however, things are looking a lot rosier for the French side, as they sit six points clear at the top of Ligue 1. Their next game sees a them take on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in what promises to be a tasty European clash.

Mbappe's Real Madrid sit second in La Liga behind rivals Barcelona, and Los Blancos travel to Leganes this Sunday in a bid to keep up with the Catalans.
