'Check your sources' - Kyle Walker hits back at claims he 'failed to show up' for Man City's draw with Brentford after requesting to leave Pep Guardiola's side for new challenge - as talks with AC Milan and Inter continue
Kyle Walker has hit back at critics online claiming he "failed to show up" for Manchester City's draw with Brentford, as a move to Italy nears.
Walker has been in poor form this season for Manchester City as Pep Guardiola's side have struggled to maintain their quest for a fifth consecutive Premier League crown. As such, the club captain has not had a major role in the squad and has asked to leave this month, with a move to AC Milan discussed. However, a loan move to Inter Milan is also on the cards with the Serie A champions keen to bolster their squad in January.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Walker was left out of Manchester City's squad for their 2-2 draw with Brentford with Guardiola having revealed that he had done so as the England international had asked to 'explore options to play abroad'. Fans were quick to criticise the defender, however, Walker has now shot back at the critics.
WHAT WALKER SAID
Responding to an X user who claimed Walker "failed to show up for the match", the defender said: "Failed to turn up?
"I can’t be at Brentford and training at the same time. You may need to check your sources."

WHAT NEXT FOR WALKER?
It is highly likely that Walker will leave Manchester City and the England international may not return to play again for the eight-time Premier League champions. He has reportedly turned down a move to Saudi Arabia in a bid to keep his spot in the England squad.
