Reason for delay in deal taking Kevin De Bruyne to Napoli revealed as Belgian international jets in for medical after Man City departure

De Bruyne has been set for a move to the Serie A champions for some time but the deal is only being completed several weeks after he announced his departure from Manchester City. Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that the delay was down to De Bruyne's house hunt, with his lawyer having to head to Naples to sort out the complication.

That situation is now resolved and De Bruyne is now due to carry out his medical. He will sign for Antonio Conte's side on a two-year deal, with the option for a third, as they aim to retain their Serie A title and compete in the Champions League.

It had previously been reported that De Bruyne's image rights were also holding the deal up. The Belgian became one of the most sought after free agents in world football when he departed City after winning six Premier League titles and a Champions League, among other domestic trophies.

The report states that Napoli's pre-season training will begin on July 17 with De Bruyne intent on getting used to Conte's tactics ahead of the new season.
