The Atletico Madrid coach admitted that his team got lucky while defending against Bellingham in the last three games against Real Madrid and claimed that it is the England international's late runs from midfield that make him such a dangerous player.

When asked about how his team managed to stop Jude Bellingham in the past, the Atletico Manager told ESPN: "We got lucky... He’s extraordinary. He’s at a club where he has everything to get better. I really like him. He has something that’s very difficult to figure out, which are late runs from midfield. For a defender, to focus on the ball or the player, if you look at the ball you will lose him."

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a rich vein of form in his maiden season in Spain having scored 18 goals in 27 matches across all competitions and provided eight assists. The player, though, is yet to find the back of the net in the three Madrid derbies he has played in the ongoing campaign.

The two rival sides are all set to lock horns for the fourth time in the 2023-24 season on Sunday in La Liga at Santiago Bernabeu.
