Arne Slot has held discussions with Liverpool's longest-serving player about the upcoming season and Gomez himself is keen to earn his spot under the new head coach. Gomez has not spoken to Newcastle about a possible switch and looks set to remain on Merseyside, ruling out a swap deal between the Reds and Magpies involving Gordon.
