    WHAT HAPPENED?

The 31-year-old completed a surprise transfer to the South Korean club this week, ending his lengthy search for a new team following his release by Nottingham Forest at the end of last season. Now, ex-Palace owner Jordan has said "good riddance" to the former Manchester United man, that Lingard has "wasted" his opportunities, and appears to be more concerned about what's happening on social media than his footballing career.

    WHAT SIMON JORDAN SAID

He said on talkSPORT: "Good riddance to bad rubbish. Wasted his time, wasted his career, wasted his opportunities, wasted his time at Nottingham Forest, wasted Nottingham Forest's money, and this is the level he's now at. Well done. All the talent you had, all the opportunities you've had, you've played for the biggest club in world football in my view in Manchester United and you spent more time worrying about what you look like. Good player. No doubt he's a good player but he's a waste of time now."

Jordan added: "At times he embodied the culture that was going on inside Manchester United with players who were more concerned about what's happening on social media and what they look like with their ridiculous little antics rather than what they were doing on the football pitch and that is only because the player had the talent. My harshness is based upon that. He wasted people's time, specifically his own."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lingard reportedly had offers from as many as 26 clubs before the former West Ham loanee joined Seoul on a two-year contract. After allegedly being approached to join Newcastle United and Fulham before signing for Forest in 2022, his career has now taken a nosedive and his England career is likely over, too.

  • WHAT NEXT?

Lingard, who had failed trials at the Hammers and Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq in 2023, could make his Seoul debut soon, with the K-League team - who finished a mid-table seventh last term - starting their league campaign away to Gwangju on March 2.
