FIFA U17 World Cup 2025 draw: Straightforward for USA, hosts Qatar in Italy's group while Saudi Arabia up against Austria

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The 48-team 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup will see defending champions Germany up against North Korea, Colombia and El Salvador while the USA are up against Burkina Faso, Tajikistan and the Czech Republic.

    Asian powerhouses Saudi Arabia are in a challenging group that consists of New Zealand, Mali and Austria. Hosts Qatar meanwhile are in Group A which also has the likes of Italy, South Africa and Bolivia.

    The tournament is set to be held in Qatar from 3-27 November later this year and will feature 48 teams for the first time ever.

    Interestingly, the FIFA U17 World Cup will become an annual event, starting from this edition and the next five tournaments will be hosted in Qatar.

    The complete draw and groups are as follows:

    Group A: Qatar, Italy, South Africa, Bolivia

    Group B: Japan, Morocco, New Caledonia, Portugal

    Group C: Senegal, Croatia, Costa Rica, UAE

    Group D: Argentina, Belgium, Tunisia, Fiji

    Group E: England, Venezuela, Haiti, Egypt

    Group F: Mexico, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Switzerland

    Group G: Germany, Colombia, North Korea, El Salvador

    Group H: Brazil, Honduras, Indonesia, Zambia

    Group I: USA, Burkina Faso, Tajikistan, Czechia

    Group J: Paraguay, Uzbekistan, Panama, Ireland

    Group K: France, Chile, Canada, Uganda

    Group L: Mali, New Zealand, Austria, Saudi Arabia

    Top two teams from each group will qualify for the Round of 32 alongside the best eight third-placed teams.

    The 2025 edition of the U17 World Cup will feature a whopping 104 matches. Qatar's Aspire Academy will host all the matches of the tournament apart from the final which will be held at the Khalifa International Stadium, one of the venues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

    The Aspire Academy, which is a sprawling world class facility, will host matches throughout with games starting every 30 minutes across its many pitches. With majority matches taking place in one facility, players, fans and officials do not have the hassle of travelling.

    With the tournament kick-starting on November 3, all eyes will be on the next generation of superstars lighting up the global stage in Qatar.
