  • WHAT HAPPENED?

City seemed to be heading towards a much-needed victory at the Amex on Saturday evening after Erling Haaland's opener but goals in the 78th and 83rd minute from Joao Pedro and Matt O'Riley secured Brighton a stunning comeback win. This prompted many football supporters to take to social media and guffaw at the defending Premier League champions, with some slamming Guardiola, others saying they are not nearly as good without the injured Rodri and one even said they will get relegated.

    WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

On X, @TheEuropeanLad put on X: "Manchester City actually can't do ANYTHING without Rodri!"

@tweetsbydarian posted a photo of City's four losses and tweeted: "It’s a disgrace, a massive disgrace."

@hey_noble tweeted: "Call me sick if you want but I’m here for this Pep Guardiola downfall."

@Yeet13377 wrote: "City not winning sh*t without Rodri," while @Rockfada_A questioned: "Is this the end of Manchester City Era in EPL?"

@MCFC1977 added: "City defenders holding each other's d*cks while Brighton walk through us. Absolute joke don't care about the injuries Pep needs to get a f*cking grip and change something as nothing is working."

@Rashousmane commented: "LETS ALL LAUGH AT CITY", while @SaudiIntellect mused: "4 losses in a row? I think it’s time for #PepOUT," and @CFCMamo stated: "Oil money is finito. You will be relegated."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

This defeat was City's fourth in a row in all competitions. Even more signifcant than that was this was the first time Guardiola had lost four straight games as a manager in his entire career. They are still second in the Premier League but they need to find some form and quickly to get back on track.
