Wrexham were set to face the League Two team on Tuesday night but the match will now take place at a later date. The Red Dragons stated that the Vale Park pitch passed an inspection but the reasons behind the postponement have now become clear.

THE EXPLANATION
According to Wrexham, the Port Vale clash has been pushed back following consultation with the local Safety Advisory Group. Despite passing the inspection, the condition of the pitch was 'deemed doubtful' and more snow was forecast on Tuesday afternoon and evening. The Welsh team state that the fixture was postponed due to 'safety concerns' relating to the areas surrounding the stadium, which 'remain dangerous' for attendees.

Wrexham added that a revised date for the match will be confirmed in due course and ticket purchases for the original January 7 fixture will remain valid for the rearranged contest.
