English official Taylor was in charge of Chelsea's 1-0 win at Bournemouth last weekend - in a match where the referee handed out a Premier League record 14 yellow cards. Off the back of that, he won't officiate any English top-flight games this weekend, and here's why.

According to The Guardian, Taylor won't be in action this weekend after being subjected to abuse on social media in the wake of the Chelsea match. The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) said on Tuesday that Taylor would be a fourth official on Southampton's home game against Ipswich Town on Saturday and Brighton's trip to Nottingham Forest a day later.

The report adds Chelsea and Bournemouth face Football Association fines of £25,000 for picking up more than six yellow cards in a match - with eight Blues players being booked at last weekend's encounter.

Chelsea are next in action on Saturday in an early Premier League kick-off away to London neighbours West Ham, whereas Bournemouth travel to Liverpool later that day. Taylor will likely return to refereeing duty next weekend.
