Fashanu is said to have accused cops in Nigeria, where he now lives, of wrongly arresting him, his wife, and his lawyer. Fashanu claims the entire case is a civil matter, as investors had agreed to pay him £500,000 for a portion of land. After the investors allegedly sent workmen to build a perimeter fence, Fashanu and his lawyer investigated and were arrested by police who were protecting the workers. He claims he was wrongly arrested, and alleges "arrest, detention and inhuman treatment" for "about three hours".
