WHAT HAPPENED?
United have already made significant moves in the transfer market, adding four new players to their roster. The latest arrivals are Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt, both signed from Bayern Munich earlier this week. These signings follow the earlier acquisitions of French defender Leny Yoro from Lille and Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.

With these four new recruits already integrated into the squad, United’s attention now turns to strengthening their midfield. Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte has emerged as the club’s top target to bolster this area of the team. Although they have been linked with several midfielders throughout the summer, Ugarte appears to be the primary focus as the transfer window enters its final stretch.
WHAT TEN HAG SAID
When questioned by former United captain Roy Keane on the prospect of further signings, Ten Hag hinted that there could be even more signings.
“We can't stand still,” he told Sky Sports.
When further asked about which positions he would look to further strengthen, the manager said: "It depends what happens in the market, but I am happy with the squad and I think when we have this squad, I am quite confident ahead of the new season."
DID YOU KNOW?
In addition to the midfield, Manchester United are also considering reinforcing their left-back position. Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have left the club short in this area, raising concerns about depth and durability. Although no specific targets have been mentioned, the club’s scouting team is likely assessing potential candidates who can provide cover and competition for the left-back spot. However, with the transfer deadline fast approaching, any move for a new left-back would need to be executed swiftly.

The arrival of players like Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro, and Zirkzee has injected fresh energy and quality into the team, providing Ten Hag with a diverse array of options across the pitch. Now it remains to be seen if the Red Devils can get the Ugarte deal over the line, which could be pivotal in addressing their midfield issues and shaping United’s fortunes this season.
