'Very hard dilemma' - Arsenal boss Renee Slegers speaks out after Bayern Munich Champions League fixture is moved from Emirates Stadium due to clash with men's Carabao Cup tie

The Women's Champions League match was set to take place at Emirates Stadium on December 18 but it will be relocated as the men's team will play the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Crystal Palace on the same night.

The news sparked an angry reaction from Gunners supporters and Slegers was asked about the issue at a press conference on Thursday and admitted the club are in a difficult position.

"I think it’s been a very hard dilemma for the club, two great teams competing in competitions," she said at a press conference. "But I think what Arsenal has been doing well is pushing the growth of women’s football for a very long time. So, I think this is a bump on the road, but what Arsenal has done for women’s football over time is very strong. We look forward to playing against Bayern Munich, having a Champions League night either way. I think the girls are comfortable at Emirates Stadium as well. Boreham Wood has felt like a home for a long time and Emirates Stadium feels like a home as well, so we just look forward to playing these games and we’ll see where we will play it."

Arsenal play their Women's Super League matches at Boreham Wood, but the stadium does not meet UEFA's requirements for a Women's Champions League match. The north London side may have to look for another stadium to host the German side next month.
