'He didn't work hard' - Jesse Lingard slammed by FC Seoul boss Kim Gi-dong as ex-Man Utd man warned he's some way off breaking into starting XI

Lingard secured a first K-League win with his new South Korean side on Saturday, after they won 2-0 against the ten-men of Jeju. Despite the win, the former Manchester United and West Ham United man was once again limited to a role off the bench - with the Seoul boss criticising his effort levels after he came on in the 58th minute.

Speaking after the victory, the Seoul boss had this to say regarding Lingard's performance: "Even though he came on as a substitute, he didn’t work hard and avoided tussle. The name value has no meaning on the pitch. I will tell him this exactly."

The 31-year-old playmaker reportedly had a number of offers from clubs around the world after he parted ways with Nottingham Forest at the end of last summer. Lingard went on to join Seoul in February but is yet to make his first start for the club, with all three of his appearances arriving as a substitute. Lingard has also been booked on two of the three occasions he has donned the FC Seoul shirt.

Following the win against Jeju, Lingard and his team-mates are now not in action until after the upcoming international break. The next clash will arrive on March 31, as Gi-dong's side taken on Gangwon - who are one place behind Seoul in eighth. Lingard has not be called up by England boss Gareth Southgate, so the midfielder will now enjoy a two week break before he is back on the football pitch.
