'Dele Alli needs to keep working' - Cesc Fabregas sends pointed message to ex-Tottenham and England star as midfielder struggles for Como minutes

Dele Alli joined the Serie A side in January on a free transfer and made his debut for the club in March. It was his first appearance in a professional match in over two years, but his bow turned into a nightmare as he lasted only 10 minutes on the pitch before being sent off as Como went down 2-1 against AC Milan.

Since the clash against the Rossoneri, the midfielder has appeared in Como's matchday squad in their last four Serie A clashes, but did not feature in any of the games. Manager Fabregas has now sent out a message and clarified why he has denied the player game time.

Speaking to reporters, Fabregas said: "I play those who train well and earn a spot during the week. Dele Alli needs to keep working. He had his chance in Milan, but was sent off and then got injured. When the right time comes, it just comes. [Anastasios] Douvikas has trained well, and everyone is available except Sergi Roberto and Dossena."

The Italian side will be back in action in the Serie A on Saturday afternoon as they take on Parma in an away fixture.
