David Beckham pays tribute to Liam Payne after One Direction star's tragic death

<p>Payne died at the age of 31 earlier this week after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. His sudden passing has shocked the world and led to tributes coming in from all corners of the globe.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Manchester United and England legend Beckham has now sent his heartfelt condolences upon news of Payne's death. The two are said to have known each other through Victoria Beckham's friendship with Payne's ex-girlfriend and musician Cheryl. On Instagram, Beckham shared a photo with Payne and wrote: "Such a kind generous person and will be missed in so many ways."</p>

WHAT BECKHAM SAID
