  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Per Marca, Wydad are interested in a stunning deal to sign Ronaldo on a short-term deal specifically for the Club World Cup. They want both the sporting and commercial benefits that Ronaldo's presence would bring, amid doubts over his future at Al-Nassr.

    Ronaldo's contract expires on June 30 and the Club World Cup is scheduled to take place between June 14 and July 13. Wydad would only sign Ronaldo for the duration of the tournament, in which they will face Manchester City, Juventus, and Al-Ain in the group stages.

    Nassr have endured another trophyless season despite Ronaldo's presence, and have also failed to qualify for the AFC Champions League, meaning he could seek pastures new in the summer. Brazilian club Botafogo are interested, while Sporting CP have also been linked with an emotional move for their former youth star.
