It was a terrifying night for Neil El Aynaoui, the Moroccan midfielder born in 2001 who plays for Roma, and for his family.

According to Ansa, at around 3am, a gang of six men dressed in black, armed with guns and with their faces covered, broke into the house after tearing down a grille from the living room window.

The robbers first locked the footballer, his mother, his partner and his brother and his partner in a room. They then stole jewellery worth around €10,000, a Rolex and designer handbags. The police are at the scene. The criminal investigation unit is investigating.

Officers from the Mobile Squad’s anti-robbery unit, led by Roberto Giuseppe Pititto, arrived at the scene immediately and are now hunting the bandits. The police have collected CCTV footage from the area around Infernetto.
El Aynaoui said late this morning: "We went through some frightening moments. Did anyone need to go to hospital because of the severe stress? No, we’re all fine. We were scared, but we’re fine now."
