Chelsea considering £43m summer move for Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams which could spell bad news for Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk

According to The Telegraph, the 21-year-old has a release clause of approximately £43 million ($54.6m) but it is believed the winger earns upwards of £100,000-a-week after tax in Spain - which would make him one of the Blues' top earners.

While Chelsea arguably need an out-and-out striker, with Napoli's Victor Osimhen and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko among their top targets, Williams has impressed the west London outfit following his six goals and 11 assists this season. However, if he did sign for the Blues, this could place question marks around the futures of fellow widemen Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk. Moreover, with profit and sustainability rules, Chelsea may have to sell before they can buy this summer.

Williams - who has a contract with Athletic Club until 2027 - has made 11 appearances for Spain, scoring two goals in the process. Arsenal are reportedly among the list of admirers for the youngster, who has been at Bilbao since 2013.

On the pitch, Chelsea next face Newcastle United on March 11 in the Premier League and off the pitch, the Blues reportedly need to raise at least £100 million by June 30 to comply with financial fair play rules - something the Stamford Bridge club dispute.
