Chelsea players to donate share of Club World Cup bonuses to family of late Liverpool star Diogo Jota and brother Andre Silva

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    According to The Athletic, Chelsea have allocated a £11.4 million ($15.5m) fund to be equally distributed between the players who helped Enzo Maresca's side win this summer's Club World Cup. Moreover, the club and the players have decided to send an equal amount to Jota's family, following the deaths of the Liverpool star and his brother Silva in July in a car crash.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    The footballing world has been rocked by the death of brothers Jota and Silva. Liverpool recently unveiled plans for a memorial sculpture of the former at Anfield, with the Reds' players set to wear a 'Forever 20' emblem on their shirts and stadium jackets for the upcoming season. Like the Merseyside outfit, this is a touch of class by Chelsea.
