Chelsea's next goalkeeper? Blues closing in on €25m stopper as they see off transfer competition from Marseille

The Blues are in talks with the Spanish side over a deal worth between €20 million (£17m/$22m) and €25m (£21m/$27m) for the 22-year-old, according to The Athletic. The Swedish-born shot-stopper has a release clause worth €45m (£38m/$49m) in his contract.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City were all linked with Jorgensen in April, while Marseille were also interested in signing the custodian, who came through Villarreal's youth academy after joining from Mallorca at the age of 13. However, Chelsea seem to have taken the lead in the race to sign him as they look to bring in a new goalkeeper to compete with Robert Sanchez for the No.1 spot.

Jorgensen became the London club's priority target for the position earlier this summer, but they had also been linked with a move for Ukrainian stopper Andriy Lunin amid reports he could leave Real Madrid in the current transfer window.

Chelsea will hope to come to an agreement with the Yellow Submarine soon so that they can bring Jorgensen into the squad to start preparing for the 2024-25 campaign.
