Chelsea near Jamie Gittens signing! Blues reach 'agreement in principle' over seven-year contract with talks ongoing with Borussia Dortmund over transfer fee

First reported by Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Chelsea have negotiated a seven-year contract with Gittens, with the England youngster keen to make the move. Fabrizio Romano reports that the Blues have tabled a bid worth €35 million (£29.5m) for the winger, but there is no agreement yet between the two clubs.

The Athletic claims that Chelsea have targeted the 20-year-old after refusing to sign Jadon Sancho permanently from Manchester United. An England Under-21 international, he has racked up 106 appearances for the Bundesliga side, and he scored 12 goals last season.

Gittens is capable of playing on either wing or through the middle but has predominantly operated off the flank. He has a contract until 2028, meaning Dortmund are under no pressure to sell in this window.

Chelsea will aim to formalise their deal for Gittens and add him to Enzo Maresca's squad. Both the Blues and Dortmund will compete at this summer's FIFA Club World Cup.
