Chelsea's new striker? Blues linked with unwanted PSG hitman Randal Kolo Muani - but January switch deemed unlikely

Reports from Foot Mercato suggest that Chelsea have shown interest in Kolo Muani, who joined PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt during the summer of 2023 for an initial fee of €75 million. Muani has had a challenging stint making only 14 appearances across all competitions this season. His limited opportunities under manager Luis Enrique have fuelled rumours of a possible departure. PSG, for their part, is reportedly open to sanctioning a loan move for the forward with an option to purchase, should an agreement be reached.

Despite these rumours, Ben Jacobs of GiveMeSport and Bobby Vincent of Football London have downplayed the likelihood of such a transfer. While the club is aware of the player’s situation they will not make a move to sign him in January. Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on long-term striking options for 2025 and remain confident in the abilities of current striker Nicolas Jackson.

Chelsea have managed to turn around their Premier League season after a dismal start and currently sit fourth in the table. Their attacking output has been impressive, with the team scoring the third-most goals (38) in the league, trailing only Liverpool (45) and Tottenham Hotspur (41).

As the year draws to a close, Chelsea will face Ipswich Town in their final match of 2024 on Monday. The trip to Portman Road presents an opportunity for the Blues to solidify their position in the league standings heading into the new year after a shock result against Fulham.
