Barcelona include Dani Olmo in squad for Athletic Club clash despite new signing STILL not being registered with La Liga

Despite their woeful financial condition, the Catalan giants made the marquee signing of Spain's Euro 2024 hero Olmo as they agreed to pay €55m (£46m) upfront and €7m (£5m) in add-ons to RB Leipzig. However, while the player has already arrived at the club and has started training, he is yet to be registered with La Liga.

After missing the club's season opener last weekend due to the same issue, Olmo is now hoping that the registration process gets completed in time so that he can finally make his debut for the club. Hansi Flick has included the 26-year-old in the matchday squad that will take on Athletic Club on Saturday, however, the club put an asterisk beside the player's name signifying his participation is subject to registration.

The Blaugrana have parted ways with Ilkay Gundogan, who returned to Manchester City and Vitor Roque is on his way to join Real Betis on loan. However, the two departures are not enough as they need to offload a few more players before they can accommodate the Spain international.

It is unlikely that Olmo will be able to take the field on Saturday against Athletic Club. Barca sporting director Deco is racing against time to offload a few more players before the transfer window closes next Saturday to register the player.
