THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 26-year-old, who has scored 48 goals in 47 games for Sporting this season, is expected to cost upwards of €80 million (£68m/$91m) and Atleti are 'dreaming' of bringing him to La Liga. The Spanish side are looking to invest in other areas of the squad, with Tottenham's Cristian Romero on their list of possible signings. Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic and Thomas Partey of Arsenal are also on their radar, although Villarreal's Alex Baena is their top target in that area.
DID YOU KNOW?
Atletico could see star forward Antoine Griezmann leave at the end of the season, so they will hope to partner Gyokeres with ex-City attacker Julian Alvarez up front.
