    The Athletic report that the Five Stripes hold a sell-on clause with their former player that was struck when Newcastle signed him for an MLS record fee in 2019. Now, four years on, the Magpies are ready to move on from the Paraguayan, with a move to Saudi Arabia on the cards.

    The sell-on clause is understood to be '20-25%', with Newcastle asking for a fee north of the $26m they acquired him for in 2019. The Magpies are currently facing financial fair play issues, with the club experiencing losses of around $92m over the past six years. Both Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson are also being touted for potential moves way as they look to balance the books.

    If the move comes to fruition by the end of the current January transfer window, the Paraguayan international will relocate to Saudi Arabia and look to make his club debut in the coming weeks. If not, then he will look to continue playing an important role for Newcastle, who have slid outside of a European competition slot in the Premier League standings into 10th in the Premier League.
