Arne Slot BANNED! FA confirm touchline suspension & hefty fine for Liverpool boss after red card at Everton

Chaos erupted when James Tarkowski’s injury-time goal sealed a 2-2 draw for Everton in the Premier League, a result that caused heated reactions from both sides. After the final whistle blew, referee Michael Oliver handed out four red cards in response to the tensions that flared during the closing moments of the match. Slot and his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, were sent off for their furious protest against the official's decisions.

Following a comprehensive review, the FA have confirmed that both Slot and Hulshoff will be banned from the touchline for two matches. This means they will be absent for Liverpool's crucial upcoming fixtures, starting with a Premier League encounter against Newcastle United at Anfield. The suspension will also extend to Liverpool's match against Southampton on March 8.

A statement from the FA read: "An independent Regulatory Commission has sanctioned Everton, Liverpool, Arne Slot and Sipke Hulshoff in relation to the Premier League fixture between the clubs on Wednesday 12 February.

"It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way following the final whistle.

"It was alleged that the Liverpool head coach acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee after the match had finished. Arne Slot admitted the charge, and the Regulatory Commission imposed a two-match touchline suspension and £70,000 fine."

The FA also imposed financial penalties on both clubs involved as Everton were fined £65,000, while Liverpool were handed a £50,000 fine for their part in the incident.

In Slot’s absence, assistant first-team coach John Heitinga is expected to take over the managerial duties for the next two matches. Slot's return to the touchline will come in time for Liverpool’s Carabao Cup final clash against Newcastle United, scheduled for March 16.
