  • WHAT HAPPENED?

McGinn's free-kick came sailing into the United box and bounced through into the net as Onana stood watching. The goal resulted in further criticism for the Cameroon international, who has endured a shaky start to life at Old Trafford, but Evra feels he is hard done by.

    WHAT EVRA SAID

The former full-back said on Amazon Prime: "It depends on the style of the goalkeeper. If you had Thibaut Courtois, he would have come to that ball [to stop Aston Villa’s first goal]. I played with Edwin van der Sar, I played with David de Gea. They never would have come out like that. People can point and say it’s a goalkeeper error. But I think it’s just the type of goalkeeper."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Before the free-kick that gave Aston Villa the lead at Old Trafford, winger Leon Bailey stood beside Onana and attempted to put him off. Shortly after that goal, the away team struck again through Leander Dendoncker, but United managed to pull off a comeback in the second half as Alejandro Garnacho scored twice and Rasmus Hojlund struck in the 82nd minute to secure a 3-2 win for Erik ten Hag's team.
