Como, backed by ambitious project leaders and growing Serie A ambitions, have identified Morata as a key signing to bolster their frontline. But with Victor Osimhen's transfer saga dragging on, Galatasaray did not want to let the Spain captain leave before the Nigerian's deal was over the line. Speaking before the Como Cup final, president Suwarso made clear the club’s intentions: "We try to give the coach the best possible team. Only Fabregas can answer what's missing; investments are made to generate returns."

He also denied any lingering hope of signing Messi, and reaffirmed their strategy of investing wisely for returns: “For me, Messi isn't a dream, he's impossible. Morata? All that's missing is for him to be here. We have an agreement with Milan and with the player. Galatasaray and Milan need to talk, but we've done what we had to do.”

The next move belongs to Gala, and possibly Osimhen, if the Nigerian striker completes a switch to Istanbul, the Turkish club may allow Morata to leave, thus freeing him to join Como.
