Garnacho's acrobatic effort in November 2023 is one of 11 nominees for the FIFA Puskas Award, awarded for the most aesthetically pleasing goal of the year. The Argentinian stunned Goodison Park when he rose to meet Diogo Dalot's cross and fire the ball beyond Jordan Pickford, with Manchester United legend Gary Neville calling it "the best overhead kick I've ever seen".

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

There are some stunning goals to be picked from for the 2024 award, including Mohammed Kudus' solo effort for West Ham against Freiburg and Jaden Philogene's Rabona while playing for Hull City. Algeria's Yassine Benzia will receive plenty of votes for his sublime self-assisted bicycle kick against South Africa in March, a goal straight out of the FIFA Street video game.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Garnacho is aiming to become the first Premier League player since Erik Lamela in 2021 to win the Puskas Award. The English top-flight has seen plenty of success in recent years - Olivier Giroud (2017), Mohamed Salah (2018) and Son-Heung min (2020) have all triumphed for their fine goals.

Votes can also be cast for the women's equivalent of the Puskas Award, the Marta Award. The prize is named in honour of the Brazi icon, who finds herself among the 11 nominees for her goal against Jamaica in June.
