WHAT HAPPENED?
Alaba became the latest Madrid player to tear his ACL on Sunday, after going down late in the first half after landing awkwardly on his left foot. He received well-wishes from across the footballing world, with Toni Kroos, Rodrygo and others offering support.

WHAT SERGIO RAMOS SAID
Ramos, now of Sevilla, was the latest player to speak up, posting on Instagram: "Good luck, David. I'm sure you'll come back with more strength to give it all on the pitch my friend. A big hug."

Alaba replaced Ramos at Madrid in 2021, when the latter left the Spanish capital to join Paris Saint-Germain. Ramos has since moved to boyhood club Sevilla.

WHAT NEXT FOR ALABA
The centre-back is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days, and will start a lengthy rehab process. He is expected to return in around eight months.
