Gini Wijnaldum was in the right place at the right time for Liverpool on Wednesday - and in the process ended an incredible scoreless run of three years away from home.
The midfielder was called up by Jurgen Klopp to start in the second leg at Roma, firming up the middle of the park in the absence of the injured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
But it was in the Roma area that his presence was felt keenest, as he put the Reds 2-1 up on the night and 7-3 up on aggregate.
Wijnaldum struck to head past Alisson with the game still poised, and banished his away-day demons.
The player struck his 19th goal in all competitions since signing for Newcastle United in July 2015.
But prior to Wednesday not a single one of those strike had come as a visitor.
Indeed, Wijnaldum's last away goal had come for PSV all the way back in May 2015, before moving to the Premier League.
1 - Georginio Wijnaldum has scored his 19th goal for an English club (11 Newcastle, 8 Liverpool) though that was his first away from home. Timing. #ROMLIV— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) 2 de mayo de 2018
Eleven of those goals came at St. James' Park, with a further seven at Anfield since Wijnaldum moved to Liverpool after just one season with the Magpies.
He can now add the famous Stadio Olimpico to that list, and hope that plenty more away-day classics are to follow!
