Venue change won’t hinder Lobi Stars chances against UMS, insists Ebube Duru

Lobi Stars’ Ebube Duru has disclosed that their sudden venue change won’t hinder their determination to beat UMS de Loum in the Caf Champions League preliminary round deciding leg slated for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Wednesday.

The Pride of Benue adopted the stadium in Enugu as their preferred home ground on the continent after some technical issues regarding the runway at the airport in Makurdi made the last season’s league champions to take such drastic measure.

Players and officials of Lobi eventually arrived Enugu in the late hour of Tuesday due to the sudden change but Duru in chat hinted that they are fired up to beat their foes from Cameroon on Wednesday in spite of some inconveniences they faced in the build-up to the return leg.

“It was a difficult decision for us to relocate to Enugu because we are yet to be familiar with the pitch but we have to do so for the sake of progress,” Duru told Goal.

“We have accepted the decision to go to Enugu for our continental games and we are going there with the desire to excel. We do not want to be eliminated at this stage and the players are battled ready to make Nigerians proud at the end of the 90 minutes.

“We are going to do everything possible to ensure that we get the needed result that will take us to the next round of the competition. We have prepared so hard and we are convinced that UMS de Loum can’t stand in our way and our determined zeal to qualify for the next round.”

Lobi Stars must overturn the 1-0 first leg deficit to nurture the dream of moving to the first round and also close to the group stage of the competition which was their best in their maiden appearance in the competition 18 years ago.
