Ten years before Pele, 30 years before MLS, and 56 years before Messi, the United Soccer Association was the first professional soccer league in the USA. A 12 team tournament played out across the whole of North America in the summer of 1967. It changed everything.
A brand new film by MUNDIAL and Wolves Studios explores this untold story in incredible detail. 1967: When Wolves Conquered The USA, a 30-minute documentary co-produced by MUNDIAL and Wolves Studios, premieres in the UK on Saturday, November 11 at 10.30am on TNT Sports before the Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Tottenham Hotspur game, and will then be available on demand on Discovery+.
For fans in North America, it will also be showing on the NBC Sports YouTube channel.
Clubs from around the world were invited to spread the football gospel, with teams such as Aberdeen, Stoke City, Uruguay’s Cerro, the Netherlands’ ADO Den Haag, and Brazil’s Bangu Atletico Clube representing cities across the continent.
Wolves represented pioneering owner Jack Kent Cooke’s Los Angeles team: becoming the LA Wolves… and winning the whole thing.

As Alan Rothenberg, the former president of U.S. Soccer says in the film: "I think people will look back and say, what was the history of soccer in this country? And when they do, they have to land in 1967 and say ‘This is where it all began'."
