Minerva Punjab's Baoringdao Bodo becomes youngest ever scorer in I-League, overtakes Samuel Lalmuanpuia

Minerva Punjab's teenage sensation Baoringdao Bodo became the youngest ever goal-scorer in the history of the I-League, when he broke the deadlock in his team's encounter against Mumbai FC at Ludhiana.

Bodo, who was 17 years, 3 months and 18 days old when he scored on Saturday evening, has joined Minerva on loan from Indian Super League side Chennaiyin FC.

The Assam-born youngster broke the record of Shillong Lajong player Samuel Lalmuanpuia, who was 17 years, 8 months and 5 days old when he had scored against Aizawl FC in the North-Eastern derby last April.

"Now I feel proud to have had the opportunity of guiding him. He is an exceptional player and will definitely reach new heights. I feel sad that I couldn't catch this moment live," coach Goutam Ghosh, who had played a pivotal part in the player's devleopment while being in charge of the AIFF Regional Academy in Kalyani, told Goal minutes after the goal.

Bodo, who had finished as the highest scorer in the IFA Shield last year, is regarded as one of the most promising footballers to have come out of the AIFF Elite Academy.
