Memphis has played just 20 minutes of Premier League football for Manchester United this season as his career at Old Trafford has failed to get up and running, and he could be set to leave the club during the transfer window.
Lyon have been linked with a move for the former PSV star, having reportedly had a bid rejected for him, though negotiations are not over as a deal seems possible.
Midfielder Ferri admitted that he was excited by the prospect of having the Netherlands international as a team-mate.
“Lyon are an ambitious club and it’s great to know that we can make investments to sign world-class players," Ferri told Footmercato.
"If he arrives, we’ll welcome him like any other newcomer. Signing new players who can give the team something more it’s always positive.”
Lyon manager Bruno Genesio revealed that signing the 22-year-old is the club's main priority at the moment.
Genesio's side currently sit fourth in Ligue 1, and are looking to bring Memphis in to close the gap on leaders Monaco.
"Memphis Depay is a player who I have made a priority. The intention is that we capture him as soon as possible," Genesio told reporters.
'I'm a fan. He is a complete, powerful and fascinating player."
Memphis joined the Red Devils for £25 million after a title-winning campaign with PSV in order to reunite with former Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal. The 22-year-old failed to break into the first-team in his first season, though, and has not been named on the bench under Jose Mourinho this season since he was an unused substitute against Arsenal.
