Knee injury knocks Plateau United’s Odah out of Etoile du Sahel tie

Plateau United will make do with the duo of Dele Ajiboye and John Gaadi for the crucial return leg of the Caf Champions League first round encounter with Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia with Okeimute Odah unable to make the squad to Kano due to a knee injury.

Odah, who has had an impressive start to life with the Nigeria Professional Football League reigning champions, conceded three goals under 10 minutes in Sousse before he was replaced by Ajiboye who ensured the game ended in a respectable 4-2 scoreline.

The Team Manager of the Peace Boys, Abel Iliya disclosed that the former Lobi Stars’ goaltender didn’t make the 20 man squad to Kano as he was yet to recover from the knee injury he sustained in Tunisia which forced his substitution in the first leg.

“Okeimute didn’t travel with us to Kano on Wednesday and his place has been taking over by John Gaadi who didn’t travel with us to Tunisia,” Iliya told Goal.

“He complained of a knee injury in Sousse and it was the reason he was substituted in the first leg as he was unable to continue with the game.

“We are confident that Dele Ajiboye and Gaadi will help us prevent the Tunisians from scoring on Sunday knowing that we need at least two goals difference to progress to the next round.

“I can say that we have come to Kano with 20 players that can help push our cause to the next round of the competition,” he concluded.

Plateau United will face Etoile du Sahel at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano on Sunday by 2pm local time as they seek their place in the group stage of the lucrative African club competition.
