Kevin-Prince Boateng scores as Sassuolo breeze past Ternana

Kevin-Prince Boateng was among the goals as Sassuolo defeated Ternana 5-1 in Coppa Italia third round encounter.

The 31-year-old summer signing put up an eye-catching performance in pre-season, scoring five goals for the Mapei Stadium outfit and continued the imposing form scoring the curtain raiser for Roberto De Zerbi’s men against the Red-greens in the ninth minute.

Domenico Berardi increased the lead shortly in the 22nd minute from the penalty spot.

Alfred Duncan compounded the woes of their visitors with his effort at the half-hour mark before Berardi completed his brace in the 41st minute.

Marino Defendi pulled one back for the Stadio Libero Liberati outfit but Francesco Magnanelli had the final say to help the Serie A side to a 5-1 win.

Boateng will be looking to continue the fine form when Sassuolo kick-off their Serie A campaign against Inter Milan on August 19.
