Kaizer Chiefs will reportedly release Mthembu and Manqele

Kaizer Chiefs, who revived their PSL title chances prior to the mid-season break with successive wins at home to Polokwane City and away at Golden Arrows  are reportedly set to offload two players.

Strikers Siphelele Mthembu and Edward Manqele will be released and they also were both put on the transfer list before the start of the current season.

According to Times Digital Media , the Glamour Boys want to make way for Italian striker Gustavo Paez, who underwent a successful trial with them recently by releasing the duo.

With no interest coming forth for their services to date, the club has seemingly run out of patience with Mthembu and Manqele, who are not in the plans of coach Steve Komphela.

Despite the fact that they have been in the match day squads on a few occasions this season, they have done little to impress Komphela to have them alongside his preferred contingent in Zimbabwean Mitchell Katsvairo, Bernard Parker and youngster Emmanuel Letlotlo.

Manqele’s contract with the club runs until June 2018. He has scored one goal in 20 appearances in all competitions since his arrival in August 2015.

Mthembu on the other hand, had a loan move to Bloemfontein Celtic go up in smoke after the club decided against recruiting his services after failing to impress on trial.

He too has found the net only once in 41 league and Cup appearances since his move from Platinum Stars at the start of the 2014/15 season.
