Former Pune City coach Marcos Paqueta sacked by Botafogo

Former Pune City head coach Marcos Paqueta has been relieved of his duty by Botafogo after just five matches in charge.

Brazilian coach Paqueta was unveiled as head coach by Indian Super League (ISL) club Pune City in June this year before the coach proceeded to terminate his contract to join the Brazilian Serie A outfit. He replaced Alberto Valentim and had a contract that ran till 2019.

Paqueta had a tough task at his hand with The Lone Stars struggling in ninth place in the league when he took charge. In his five games as head coach, the 59-year-old recorded four defeats and a 1-2 loss against Nacional in the second round of the Copa Sudamericana was the final nail in the coffin.

Brazilian coach Ze Ricardo has been touted as the likely candidate to replace Marcos Paqueta.
