IFA Shield 2018: East Bengal beat ATK, SAIL Burnpur Academy thrash Mohammedan Sporting

East Bengal U-19s outclassed ATK 3-0 in their second match of IFA Shield 2018 on Sunday at the East Bengal Ground. Jhantu Prasad netted a brace and Tetepuia scored once in the second-half to guide East Bengal towards yet another win.

The Red and Gold colts picked up their second win on the trot in the ongoing IFA Shield after their convincing 6-1 win over SAIL Burnpur Academy in their first match.

With today’s win, East Bengal have confirmed their place in the semifinal of the competition. They next face rivals Mohammedan Sporting in their third match of Group A on July 11 at the Barasat Stadium.

In another Group A fixture held at the Barasat Stadium, SAIL Burnpur Academy thrashed Mohammedan Sporting 4-0. With a brace (16’ and 64’), Israfil Dewan was the main architect behind SAIL academy’s win. The other two goals were scored by Sheikh Mohammed (38’) and Avijit Mondal (73’).

SAIL move to the second position with three points in Group A with today’s win, just behind East Bengal. They had suffered a 1-6 defeat against East Bengal in the first match.

On Monday, Mohun Bagan will play their second match of Group B against Bengal Football Academy at the Barasat Stadium. Bagan are off to a flying start with a 7-1 win over Churchill Brothers in their first match
