Hearts of Oak fans need to be patient - coach Kim Grant

Hearts of Oak head coach and director of football Kim Grant has called on fans to exercise patience while work is being done to return the club to its glorious days. 

The former Ghana international, who assumed duty in November last year, is under pressure owing to the Phobians' topsy-turvy performance in the ongoing Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee Special Competition. 

After four rounds of matches, the Accra-based side have won two games, losing the other two. 

''I am building a team and I'm not looking short-term. I'm looking long term," Grant said on Wednesday. 

"I have brought in young players and in the new registration window, I will look to strengthen again. So it's a long-term process.

''I understand it's a big club, that wants to be successful and win things but also you have to think about the mindset - that I'm trying to build a new team and put in place infrastructure. [The] Pobiman [project] is happening.

''I understand there is frustration that this club needs to win. This club hasn't won nothing for [10] years. 

"Now we are trying to solve that by building a team, so they have to be patient. Rome was not built in a day.''

Hearts, 20-time Ghana Premier League champions, won their last title in 2009.

On continental level, they last won the Caf Champions League and Confederation Cup in 2000 and 2004 respectively.
