Ghana under-17 set sights on World Cup trophy

Ghana captain Eric Ayiah says his outfit are poised to clinch gold at the upcoming Fifa Under-17 World Cup in India.

Drawn in Group A alongside the hosts, Colombia and the USA, the Black Starlets are set to play at the global showpiece for the first time since 2007.

Ghana finished second at the African championship in May this year.

"Qualifying from the group stage is our first aim and we're poised to achieve it, but the main target is to return home with the ultimate," Ayiah told Happy FM.

"We're not going to finish second this time around as we did at the Africa Cup.

"We know how difficult the task at hand is but nothing is impossible for God.

"The mistakes we did in the Afcon are rectified, so now we know how to tackle games as they come."

Ghana are set to take on Colombia in the opening game of the competition, hours before the hosts face the USA.

Paa Kwasi Fabin's charges then square off against the USA on October 9 before rounding off the group stage against the hosts three days later.
